Made from 2 ha of vines exposed to the south/south-east, situated on the northern hillside in the town of Ampuis. “Madinière” is not the name of an actual place, but comes from the name of the stream situated at the bottom of the hillside. The soil is composed predominately of schist, which is typical of the northern part of the appellation. High density of vines, low yields, effeuillage, and green harvests all take place. Vines treated without insecticides of pesticides, the number of treatments are restrained according to the weather conditions. Manual harvest, and in the cave, rigorous sorting, pressing, and partial destemming occur. Fermentation of the skins “en cuves ouvertes" for approximately 3 weeks with controlling of the temperatures, regular pigeage and remontage. Malolactic fermentation in barrels with native yeast. Aged 18 months in barrels.
Style: This "vin gourmand" evokes aromas of confitured fruit notes, delicate spices and licorice notes. In the mouth, the wine is suave and elegant, with a lovely tannic frame. Primary aromas occur when drinking within the first 5 years of the wine's life, secondary aromas occur take over during the last 10 or more years of its life. Production: Approximately 10.500 bottles
Maturity: Now-2025
