The red and rosé wines of Châteaumeillant, located in the center-west of France, express the influence of the Loire Valley, yet are a reflection of their unique terroir. This particular gamay variety is descended from both 60 year old vines and new plants. Modern technologies in the wine making process, (such as the control of temperatures) reinforce and develop the choice of this variety. At the estate, winemaker Pierre Picot uses exclusively black gamay with white juice. This makes the wine very special, very unique, and very different from the other gamays. Manual harvest, soil composed of micaschiste.
