Grape(s): 100% Chenin Blanc.
Eric Morgat produces only one cuvée at his domaine, that expresses fully the individuality of his terroir and artistic vision. This vision leads you to question what you thought the potential was for the chenin blanc grape, and shows you just how much the winemaker's personal philosophy, combined with an exceptional terroir, can affect the wine's final outcome.
Since 2004, the harvests are made from tanned chenin grapes (quite mature) without botrytis. Eric produces his Savennières issued from extremely small yields, collected carefully, and vinified in barrels (20% new), with complete malolactic fermentation. One of the most gifted winemakers in the Loire. Very limited annual production; approximately 15.000 bottles. This cuvée was elected as one of the 17 best biological wines in all of France from Bettane & Desseauve! Powerful in alcohol (14%) and “en matière,” this wine can age ean age effortlessly for another 10 years.
