Since 1520, the Rémy Gresser family, situated in Andlau (about halfway between Strasbourg and Colmar in the Alsace region) have proudly been making wine. Vines are cultivated according to the rules of our ancestors, and in the present day and age this is known as bio-dynamic cultivation. Biodynamic cultivation is a method of viticulture that treats terroirs as unified and individual organisms, emphasizing balancing the holistic development and interrelationship of the soil, plants, and air as a self-nourishing system without external inputs insofar as this is possible given the loss of nutrients due to the export of the grapes. A very passionate man and very much attached to his terroir, for viticulturalist Rémy Gresser it is most important to remain an authentic winemaker who remains faithful to a philosophy of the terroir and the environment.
The GC Kastelberg comes from a terroir of “schiste de steige.” Pure nose with floral notes, ample and spicy in the mouth, very mineral, wet shale, unique, profound and distinguished. A very beautiful kastelberg. Food accompaniment: “crustacés, poissons crus (sushi), poissons d'eau douce.”
