The La Fermade Rouge comes from a plateau in Lirac of rolled pebbles. The avg. age of the vines is 31 years old and the yield is a miniscule 19hl/ha! Vinification includes de-stemming, a pre-fermentation maceration during 5 days, and a fermentation of 3 weeks between 26C-28C. Regular délestage for the first 3 days, follwed by pumping over twice per day. Aged in inox tanks. Annual production: 30.000 bottles.
A wine with superb concentration of “matière” without being heavy in the mouth, with powerful ripe black fruits, frank on the palate that finishes with a light point of quite pleasant bitterness, and with silky and solid tannins. Food Accompaniment: charcuterie, viandes rouges ou gibier. Optimal service temperature: 16C-17C. -Médaille d’Or au Concours Général Agricole 2009
