Grape(s): 100% Gamay

Jean-Pierre Large, who manages the domaine Cheysson in Chiroubles, took over the family vineyard in 1995, which includes some very old vines that were planted in 1900. He learnt his craft on the golden slopes of Burgundy's Cote d'Or; thus, as you'd expect of a true Burgundian, Jean-Pierre takes immaculate care during winemaking to extract the maximum fruit flavours and colour from the deep soils and privileged terroir. His garnet colored, profound Morgon displays a discreet parfum of red, overmature fruit nuanced by mineral notes. The attack is plain and round and follows with great concentration in the mouth, relying on a good tannic structure that gains in terms of finesse over time. A cuvée "de garde" of good longevity, this "cru" Beaujolais over time often resembles the more prestigious pinot noir Burgundies to the north.
